Car and SUV Tax Breaks for Hybrid Vehicles

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

You may not realize this but if you are going to buy a hybrid car, SUV or any similar vehicle you could get a whopping tax break. In fact few consumers have taken the government up on this offer, perhaps they do not realize that this was part of the Bill that President Bush recently signed?

If you buy a Honda or Toyota hybrid such as the Prius or Isight you could get a $2,000 deduction on your 2004 or 2005 tax return. Those in the 33% tax bracket that would cut your tax obligations by up to $600.00 just think about this. You can save fuel, get a cool car and save money on your taxes too; but why are people not taking the government up on this? Well, probably because many people are not even aware of it. But you must take the deduction by the end of this year as the offer from the government, as good as it is, ends on January one, 2006; which is approaching about as fast as our next named Tropical Storm.

Luckily there is a new tax credit, which starts as this deduction night falls. In 2006 the new deal is a Tax Credit, which is much better and it could be as much as $3,000 straight off your tax obligation in 2006 and it is based on the gross vehicle weight of the car or SUV that you purchase.

Unfortunately for the modern day instant gratification seeker, they may not be able to take advantage of these offers, as most Hybrids at dealers are sold out with an average of a 110 person waiting list, well at least at Toyota dealers that is. The tax deal has further complications as once the manufacturer sells over 60,000 vehicles the over a one-year period the credit will be cut to 50% and then to 75%. This provides incentives for auto manufacturers to continually innovate and come up with new models and more gasoline saving features.

So if you are in the market for a Gas savings hybrid, then now could be a good time, if not get on the waiting list and get ready of 2006, so you can save in more ways than one. Think on this, think of yourself in a technologically advanced futuristic hybrid vehicle.

Honda CRV

Friday, May 30th, 2008

When it comes to the compact sport utility vehicle class, the competition is as fierce as ever before. People who want a SUV are buying compact because the gas mileage that they offer is better than larger options. And if you are in the market for a compact SUV, the Honda CRV is one of the best choices that you can make. Not only does the Honda CRV have a great on road feel, but it is capable of tackling bad weather as well thanks to a sophisticated four wheel drive system.

The current Honda CRV model has been around for several years and is due to get redesigned in the near future. But Honda may be holding off on this due in part to the fact that the current CRV is selling as good as ever before. It offers a more than capable four cylinder engine that comes along with acceptable gas mileage for a SUV.

If you are buying a new Honda CRV you will have the ability to equip it with leather interior; something that was not offered in the past. This makes the Honda CRV more versatile than ever before. And of course the leather seats go along with a well laid out interior.

Overall, the Honda CRV does have a lot of competition from other models in the class. But with that being said it is holding its own without any problems. When the new Honda CRV finally hits the market it is safe to say that it will also be among the most popular.

You Can Install A “Green” Air Filter!

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

All right now, no laughing. Probably the easiest part to swap out in a car is the air filter. A quick pop of the hood and the loosening of a couple of clamps or a wing nut and you simply reach in and pull out the old air filter. Next, open the box up containing your new air filter, pop it into place, secure everything and you are done. Five, maybe ten minutes to accomplish the easiest job going. So, why doesn’t everyone change their own air filter? More importantly, why don’t more people opt for environmentally friendly air filters, commonly known as “green” air filters? You can install a green air filter yourself and do much more than keep the air clean in the process.

So, what is a “green” air filter? A green air filter is an environmentally friendly air filter. No, they aren’t usually green as the color green is what signifies that the product works in harmony with nature. Now go hug a tree.

Seriously, there are several advantages to owning a green or reusable air filter:

Once is Enough. With a reusable air filter, you never have to buy another air filter again for your car. Periodically, all you would have to do is take the air filter out, clean it, and then reinstall it. Reusable air filters, such as an AFE air filter, are made of a washable cotton gauze material. As you probably know, cotton is one of the most durable materials on God’s green earth.

Save the Landfills. In many states, disposing of trash is a big problem. You can do your part by not adding to the problem. Just think about it: over the lifespan of a car you could easily add 8, 10, 15 or more air filters and boxes to the city dump. With a reusable air filter, less is actually more.

Engine Runs Better. A deep pleat in a reusable air filter means better filtration: your car’s engine “breathes” better with a higher quality, natural product. As you may know, an efficient engine uses less fuel too.

Sure, a reusable air filter will cost you more, approximately 2-4 times the price of a throw away air filter. However, you will recoup that money over time and do your part in showing environmental responsibility. Who can put a price on all of that? Go with green and make a difference today!
